ECSO on 94.5

Be sure to tune in to 94.5 FM Fine Arts Radio on Sunday, October 17 at 3pm-- for the re-broadcast of the September concert of the ECSO!  Be sure to listen to the Solo on the marimba by Naoko Takada. To the explosive sounds of the music I love! Hope you enjoy it too.

Up Next:

Coming soon, we will have a new post, "TWO HEADS" featuring the song, TWISTED and some super VOCAB describing the paranormal -- just in time for Halloween!

Fellow Artists

Fellow artists among us, I would like to re-iterate here (or "friend" me on Facebook!) -- that as artists & musicians and the like, we must be supportive of each other.  If we don't support each other, WHO will???  I am not the only artist in my family, but there is another, my sister Kelley, born a year later but a day earlier! For more info, please go to the art exhibit of The Stonington Printmakers Society at La Grua Center on 7 Water Street, off of Exit 91, into Stonington Borough and the Village.  The center is open on Sunday, 10/17 from 10am - 1pm, and features a demo, "Found Objects."  What I will find, I don't know, but I'm sure it will COMPLIMENT my own unique and original style! (Pun-intended!) (Other artists in my family include: my cousin, Elaine Herman of Preston as well as a second cousin in Colorado, Sean Fallon. We also have a musician, my second cousin Joe Thibeault who plays in a rock band and my second cousin Nolan Hickey, who is talented with guitar and classic rock songs. GO, ARTISTES!

At Peace

AT PEACE -- There was a stranger in town, who I often noticed on my walks through downtown New London as a new arrival on the scene as of January 3, 2010.  His name was Emmett Jarrett but I never knew him at all.  Not until I read "The Day" yesterday. There was a house, called St. Francis House, but I never knew it at all.  Not until I read "The Day" yesterday.  For more info, please go to:
"There were bells on the hill, but he never heard them, no, he never heard them at all...till there was you..."-- I often wonder what would have happened to me if I hadn't extended a chance invitation to a future friend...on that winter day in 2001...Who is that your midst? And how much longer are you going to ignore her???...* * * :)...(Denise...Denise Dances...2010)

"Better with Age"

BETTER WITH AGE  I have one more thing to add here about THE RESULTS.  Dr. Patel confirmed my "theory" that my exruciating headaches are, in fact, due to my strengthening eyesight -- which THEY say -- does get better with age! So, in addition to my "theory" that I need new eyeglasses, Dr. Patel concurred that "reading" especially, can cause headaches in someone whose eyesight is becoming -- BETTER WITH AGE!!!...* * * :) (Denise...Denise Dances...2010) NOT lol!

The Darkest Moment...

VOCAB: (Once a teacher, aaallways a teacher!!!... * * * :) -- (1) twilight: n., often attrib 1: the light from the sky between full night and sunrise or between sunset and full night produced by diffusion of sunlight through the atmosphere and its dust 2a: an intermediate state that is not clearly defined b: a period of decline. (2) dusk: n 1: the darker part of twilight, esp. at night.
(3) dawn: n 1: the first appearance of light in the morning followed by sunrise 2: a first appearance: BEGINNING.
(4) dawn: vi [ME dawnen, prob. back-formation, fr. dawning, fr.OE, dagung, fr. dagian] 1: to begin to grow light as the sun rises 2: to begin to appear or develop 3: to begin to be perceived or understood.
(5) day: n. [Me, fr. OE day: akin to OHG tag day] 1a: the time of light between one night and the next b: DAYLIGHT 2a: the period of the earth's rotation on its axis b: the time required by a celestial body to turn once on its axis 3: the mean solar day of 24 hours beginning at mean midnight 4: a specified day or date...8: BEGINNING.

The Results Are In!

"Safe and Sound" -- Don't like the number on the scale but decided to forego any Road Trips today as doctor appts make me nervous and so does traffic! Safe and sound in my familiar environment, the Groton Library today, where the vibe outside is similar to Harkness Park: mid morning peace and quiet, the birds chirping softly in the trees...any Road Trips can wait!  Road Trips I have planned: Stonington Borough off Exit 91 to the "La Grua Center" to see sis Kelley and the Stonington Printmakers Society Exhibit...tour of Stonington Vineyards...and back to the "Flo Gris" for some outdoor oil sketching! (This is a "definite maybe.")
THE RESULTS: Weight up! Blood Pressure down! Cholestrol up! A1C down! I have decided NOT to sweat the small stuff for this relatively clean bill of health, as I recall what my life used to be like (Decade of 1999-2006 -- erroneous healthcare.) Don't sweat the small stuff - not everything is under your control - do what you can - and realize God has a plan! My plans for my health today: Tweak my diet and realize where the extra pounds are coming from.  Vow to do better in the future and eliminate those foods. But don't starve yourself.  Enjoy a treat once in a while.  Give in to your cravings on occasion -- that will make them go away. The holidays are coming and they are meant to be enjoyed.  CELEBRATE -- but stay away from -- for me -- TOO MUCH SUGARS in one meal! (Sugars: sweets, of course, alchohol, starches such as bread, white rice and white pasta. I don't consider potatoes a starch but an awesome whole food!) Even with excercise, I find it important to enjoy it, rather than overdo it. (YOGA class will meet at NL Library Wednesdays, FREE, 6:30-7:30pm.) The outdoor parks and beaches are beautiful for walking this time of year. But remember: All work and no play makes you -- or me -- a dull person!!!...* * * :) (Me, dull? What're you crazy???)
