Gossip or Snitch?

GOSSIP OR SNITCH? For the past ten years since I have lived in New London, moving here in early 2000, I find there to be a strange set of morals happening here.  Why is it better to share anecdotes about your neighbor's personal life and mishaps, but "I'm not getting involved." How is spreading slander and half truths about someone better than ratting out wrongdoing?  In the recent past, I found myself faced with a Situation where I had to "get them" or they would get me. As time went on, I eventually realized that God had placed me into a Situation for a reason and I knew that my only way out was to be a "snitch." If you have watched the tell all TV shows, lately such as Dr. Phil and Oprah, confession is good for the soul.  You have to find your voice whether through the blog-o-sphere or TV.  We must not live in fear.  We must not be afraid to call our protectors, the police when is something is amiss. Let's take back our streets!  Let's stop placing the blame! (You'll never know when you might need a favor.) Let's not call me a "snitch." Instead, call me a "b---h!"

28 Hits!

28 hits yesterday, everyone, in case you're wondering! Happy Holidays!  The local downtown areas in Southeastern Connecticut all seem to have holiday strolls.  The Downtown Option is a good one.  Consider doing some or all of your Christmas shopping in downtown New London (Fair Trade Co. is a great place for reasonably priced gifts on Bank Street), downtown Mystic which is pretty in winter, and downtown Niantic as well.  Be sure to check out ALL of the local art museums, which abound in almost every town along the shoreline, for more unique gifts. (And to support those "starving artists" among us.)  As for more, you will just have to wait until next week, perhaps Monday or Tuesday! Yesterday was a breathtakingly beautiful day. (Don't let anyone else's bad attitude spoil your day.) If the weather sucks like today, too often, I guess I will be forced to take it inside again, with OASIS ("Girl Looks Outside" is almost done!) and a spin-off of "The Peacable Kingdom" is up next. As well, "Blue Elephant," third in the CAROUSEL SCENE series.  I have a whole new project lined up for next year, which involves both art and writing, but I'm not going to tell you what yet! You will just have to wait. Merry Christmas, everyone! (For an artist and writer, just remember, everything is grist for the mill.)

SIDEWAYS

"Can I ask you a personal question, Miles? Why are you so into Pinot?"

"I don't know. It's a hard grape to grow...as you know. It's thin-skineed, temperamental, ripens early. It's not a survivor, like Cabernet, which can just grow anywhere and thrive even when it's neglected. No, Pinot needs constant care and attention. In fact, it can only grow in these really specific, tucked away corners of the world. And only the most patient and nurturing of growers can do it, really. Only if somebody really takes the time to understand Pinot's potential, can then coax it into its fullest expression. And then, I mean, ah, its flavors, they're just the most haunting and brilliant and thrilling and subtle, ancient on the planet."

(From SIDEWAYS, Fox Searchlight Pictures, Starring Paul Giamatti and Thomas Haden Church. Directed by Michael London. 2004.) -- LOVED IT!!!...* * * :)

Red Carpet

ANNE HATHAWAY  Always a standout on the Red Carpet, the actress picked a pair of discreet (by Oscars standards) cushion-cut diamond earrings from Harry Winston to go with her ruby red Marchesa gown. These dazzlers, surrounded by a delicate micro-pave diamond border, added up to more than 12 brilliant carats. Only one other touch was needed: Hathaway wore a wide diamond eternity band to match the sparkle. (I've got to see this movie. I've got to see it; I've got to see it! Are we going? We're going; aren't we? If we don't go; I'm going to be mad!!!... * * * :)

WHATTA YOU WANT FROM ME?

WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME?
By Adam Lambert

Hey, slow it down! Whatta ya want from me?
Whatta ya want from me?
Yeah, I'm afraid! Whatta ya want from me?
Whatta ya want from me?

There might have been a time When I would give myself away -
Oooh, once upon a time, I didn't give a damn!
But now...Here we are...So whatta ya want from me?
Whatta ya want from me?

Just don't give up! I'm workin' it out!
Please...don't give in! I won't let you down!
It messed me up! Need a second to breathe!
Just keep comin' around!
Hey, whatta ya want from me?
Whatta ya want from me?
Whatta ya want from me?

Yeah...it's plain to see (plain to see) -
That baby, you're beautiful!
And there's nothing wrong with you!
(Nothing wrong with you!)
It's me...I'm a freak (yeah...)
But thanx for lovin' me!
Cause you're doin' it perfectly!
(It perfectly...!)

Yeah, there might have been a time
When I would let you slip away -
I wouldn't even try -
But I think you could save my life!

Just don't give up! I'm workin' it out!
Please don't give in! I won't let you down!
It messed me up! Need a second to breathe!
Just keep comin' around!
Hey! Whatta ya want from me?

Just don't give up! I'm workin' it out!
Please don't give in! I won't let you down!
It messed me up! Need a second to breathe!
Just keep comin' around!
Hey! Whatta ya want from me?
(Whatta ya want from me?)
Whatta ya want from me?
(Whatta ya want from me?)
Whatta ya want from me, ooohh!

(Hmmm...Wonder how the acoustics are at Ocean Beach?  Not saying I'm good.  Just enjoy it, that's all.  As long as no one's around...)  See you at the beeeeaaach!

Shop Downtown Mystic!

This is a plug for my friends of the family, Bob and Ester Cooper.  I know them through my sister Kelley and her mate, Brian. I've spent many vacations with them on Block Island in the summer and some holidays, as well!  I would like to thank Bob and Ester once again, for coming to my booth at the Mystic Art Festival last August and for offering their support of my latest endeavor! Be sure to check out their shop in downtown Mystic this holiday season, The Cooper Shoppe! For more info, go to:
